Cardboard Flower Pencils
We love repurposing recyclables into things of beauty! This tutorial is fun for children of all ages to enjoy. Gather up your used toilet paper or paper towel rolls and lets get crafting.
They are also a great homemade gift idea for Mother's day.
Gather Your Materials
- Toilet paper or paper towel rolls
- Pencils
- Craft paint
- Buttons
- Small teracotta pot
- Black beans
- Craft paint (green and flower color of your choice)
Cut and Paint
Step 1: Flatten your cardboard tube and cut into slices. These will make your flower petals and leaves and you will need 7-8 for each flower pencil. If you want to create a more intricate design cut extra pieces.
Step 2: Paint the pencil "stem" and 2 cardboard slices green. Paint 5-6 cardboard slices to make flower petals. Let them dry.
Step 4: Glue 2 green "leaves" to the "stem". Glue the flower petals together and add a button to the center. Glue to the top of your pencil.
Step 5: Pour black beans into your terra-cotta pot and place your flower pencils in the pot. These make a cute DIY craft for Mother's Day or Teacher Appreciation!
